Quick Solutions for Your Questions

Battery storage systems work by storing excess energy produced by your solar system during the day for use at night or during power outages. This allows homeowners to maximise their solar investment and provide power when solar generation is not available, increasing energy independence and reliability.

Battery sizing depends on your household’s energy consumption patterns. We analyse your usage of high-energy appliances like kettles, ovens, dishwashers, air conditioning, pool pumps, and hot water systems. We also consider when you use these appliances – running your dishwasher during off-peak solar hours versus evening peak rates makes a significant difference in sizing requirements.

A standard grid-tied battery system stores solar energy for later use but cannot power your home during blackouts. A backup-ready system includes additional switching equipment that automatically disconnects from the grid during outages and powers your home using stored battery energy. Backup systems require additional investment but provide complete energy security.

Most solar systems can be retrofitted with battery storage. Our technicians assess your current setup to determine the best integration approach. In some cases, additional components like hybrid inverters may be needed to optimize battery performance with your existing panels.

Batteries reduce your electricity bills by storing cheap solar energy for use during expensive peak rate periods. Instead of buying grid electricity at 25-35 cents per kWh during evening peaks, you use your stored solar energy that cost nothing to generate.

With Ausgrid’s new two-way pricing, batteries become even more valuable. Rather than paying the 1.2 cent “sun tax” on excess daytime exports, you store that energy and use it during evening peak periods when electricity costs are highest. You can even export stored energy during the 4pm-9pm reward period to earn 2.3 cents per kWh. The savings compound over time, especially as electricity rates continue to rise and export charges increase.

From July 2025 in NSW providers have introduced two-way pricing for grid exports. According to Ausgrid Solar customers are now charged 1.2 cents per kWh for excess energy exported during peak solar hours (10am-3pm) once they exceed their monthly free threshold (around 200kWh). However, the same customers receive 2.3 cents per kWh for energy exported during evening peak demand (4pm-9pm). Your exact amounts may vary depending on the latest movements in the energy market pricing.

A battery system transforms this challenge into an opportunity. Instead of being charged for excess daytime exports, you store that energy and either use it during expensive evening peak periods or export it when you’re rewarded. This means your battery system can actually generate revenue while reducing your electricity bills.

While batteries can store grid electricity during off-peak periods, they’re most cost-effective when paired with solar panels. Solar generation provides free energy to store, maximising your return on investment. We recommend installing solar and battery systems together for optimal savings and energy independence, while capitalising on the latest federal government incentives.

Quality lithium batteries typically last 10-15 years with minimal capacity loss. Most manufacturers provide warranties of 10 years or 10,000 cycles. Battery technology continues to improve, with newer systems offering longer lifespans and better performance over time.

Not necessarily. Smart battery systems automatically optimise energy storage and usage based on your consumption patterns, electricity rates, and weather forecasts. However, simple changes like running appliances during solar production hours can maximise your battery’s effectiveness and savings. If you have an EV charging from home you will be wanting to charge the car during the period with the lowest tarrif.

Battery systems are designed to work alongside the grid, not replace it entirely. During extended periods of low solar production, your battery provides stored energy first, then seamlessly draws from the grid as needed. This hybrid approach ensures reliable power while maximising solar energy utilisation.

With backup capability, batteries can power your entire home or selected essential circuits, depending on your system size and power requirements. We help you prioritise which appliances and circuits are most important during outages, ensuring your battery capacity aligns with your backup power needs. Do not assume that this feature is standard as it is an additional component and additional installation costs. This is why it is an add on feature which we recommend, however will discuss if this feature is important to you when quoting your project.

If your gas hot water, heating, or cooking appliances are nearing replacement, switching to efficient electric alternatives can increase your solar and battery system’s value. Electric heat pumps for hot water and heating are highly efficient and can be powered by your solar energy, reducing ongoing gas costs and increasing energy self-sufficiency.

Yes, electric vehicles represent a significant increase in electricity demand. If you already own or are planning to purchase an EV, we factor this into your battery sizing to ensure adequate capacity for both home and vehicle charging. Smart charging systems can coordinate with your battery to optimise solar energy use for transportation needs.

Yes! NSW’s Virtual Power Plant (VPP) program offers significant financial incentives for battery owners. From July 1, 2025, you can receive up to $550 for a 10 kWh battery or up to $1,500 for a 27 kWh battery as an upfront incentive for connecting to a VPP. This is almost double the previous incentive amounts.

Beyond the upfront payment, you earn ongoing income by selling excess stored energy to the grid during peak demand periods. VPP providers include AGL, Amber, Engie, Globird, Origin, Powow, and Shinehub, each offering different contract terms and pricing structures. The VPP incentive can be combined with the Australian Government’s Cheaper Home Batteries Program for maximum savings.

Payback periods typically range from 5-10 years depending on your electricity rates, usage patterns, and system size. With rising electricity costs, improving battery technology, and new revenue opportunities, payback periods continue to decrease. Government rebates, VPP incentives (up to $1,500 from July 2025), and the Australian Government’s Cheaper Home Batteries Program can significantly reduce initial costs and accelerate returns on investment. VPP ongoing payments and strategic energy export timing further enhance the financial benefits.

Solar panels offer several benefits, including lower electricity bills, increased home value, and reduced carbon footprint. They provide a renewable energy source that’s abundant and sustainable, contributing to environmental protection. Additionally, many regions offer incentives and rebates for adopting solar energy.

Yes, the Federal Government’s Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme provides subsidies for households that install or upgrade to eligible solar systems using an accredited installer like Raiden Technologies.

Most home solar systems are entitled to this subsidy, which is based around tradable certificates called small-scale technology certificates (STCs). You receive a certain number of STCs for your eligible instillation, calculated on how much energy you will produce until 2030.

We will calculate the number of STC’s you would be entitled to during our quoting process. These can be redeemed from us as a discount off your overall project cost.

Solar energy is harnessed by converting sunlight into electricity using solar panels. These panels contain cells made of semiconductors that absorb photons from the sunlight, creating an electric current. This process allows homeowners to generate their own clean energy, which can power their homes and reduce reliance on traditional energy sources.

We offer a variety of solar solutions tailored to fit your home’s needs. This includes various panel types, battery storage options, and installation services to maximise energy efficiency. Our team will guide you through the selection process and ensure you find the best solution for your situation.

The installation process begins with a free consultation where we assess your needs and site requirements. From there, we will develop a customised plan and schedule installation at your convenience. After installation, our team will provide you with all necessary information on maintaining and operating your new system.

While solar panels require minimal maintenance, they are not entirely maintenance-free. Regular cleaning is recommended to ensure optimal performance, especially in dusty areas or regions with heavy pollen. Additionally, having a periodic inspection by a professional can help catch any potential issues early on.

The size of the solar system you need depends on your energy usage, the size of your home, and the available roof space for solar panels. Our professional assessment will help determine the ideal system size to efficiently meet your power needs and maximise energy production to run your household.

If your property has shade from trees, buildings, or other structures, it may affect the performance of your solar panels. However, combinations of different panel technologies and proper system design can mitigate these issues. As part of our solar design we  conduct a shading analysis to find the best solution for your situation.

Most solar panels have a lifespan of 25 to 30 years, with many manufacturers offering warranties that guarantee performance and protection for around 25 years. Over time, solar panels may experience a slight decrease in efficiency, but they are designed to provide reliable energy for many years.

A smart meter measures the power going into your home from the grid and excess power from your solar panels back into the grid at any specific time of day. This allows the net metering billing arrangement that allows homeowners with solar panels to receive credit for the excess electricity they produce and send back to the grid. This helps to offset your electricity costs, effectively making your electricity meter run backward when you produce more energy than you consume.

Although council permission is not required (in most cases), Grid-connected solar panel installations require approval from the local electricity distributor. We ensure the required approvals are in place prior to the installation beginning as part of our service to comply with local regulations.

While it’s possible to install solar panels yourself it is a legal requirement that requires a Clean Energy Council (CEC) accredited electrician to connect the system to the grid. We do not offer DIY solar panel or battery solutions, as our team of certified professionals ensure that the system is installed correctly, complies with all regulations, and is a requirement for the product warranties

There are various financing options available for solar panel installations, including solar loans, leases, and power purchase agreements (PPAs).  making solar energy more accessible.
